Fall Out Boy made a surprise appearance at Coachella festival, in order to perform a song with 2 Chainz. Watch a video of the performance below.

The band took to the stage during 2 Chainz' performance on the second weekend, and played the remix to their song 'My Songs Know What You Did In The Dark (Light 'Em Up)'. 2 Chainz features in the official video for the song, and reprised his role at Coachella.

2 Chainz made a reference to the band's latest album Save Rock and Roll when introducing them to the crowd, saying, "Not only did I come to save hip-hop, I came to save rock and roll."

The hip hop star then shared the microphone with vocalist Patrick Stump and - at one point - even picked up a guitar to join in with guitarist Joe Trohman.

After the show, bassist Pete Wentz wrote on Twitter, "Thanks 2chainz for having us out at coachella..." Stump posted a photo of 2 Chainz' performance from the side of the stage, writing, "It's a bad angle for a photo, but everywhere in Coachella right now sounds good thanks to @2chainz and his killing band."

Fall Out Boy recently responded to the criticism they've received over the title of their album.

"I think the whole 'save rock and roll' thing and the whole idea of genres - I mean, part of it is that we're challenging that, because - define it," Patrick Stump told Gigwise, in an exclusive interview. "If you get ten people in a room and define rock and roll, all ten of them are going to have completely different answers. Kind of the point is that it shouldn't be in this box and it shouldn't have all these silly rules.

"Obviously, we don't take ourselves all that seriously, we're very tongue in cheek - but there is a level where if you define rock and roll as a few guys with some guitars making music, there's not a lot of that on the radio right now, there's not a lot of that in pop culture right now, so maybe that does need to be saved."
