The new BBC Director of Television has been named as Danny Cohen, who previously commissioned The Voice.
Despite The Voice coming under heavy criticism due to falling viewing figures, and the finalists' live tour having to be cancelled last year, Cohen has been appointed as the final addition to the senior management team of the new director-general, Tony Hall.
Cohen will be on the executive and management boards of the BBC and will also oversee the four main channels of the BBC; One, Two, Three and Four - as well as iPlayer and online content, four different genres and BBC Films. He will also be responsible for BBC Television archive and BBC Productions.
Cohen was previously the controller of BBC One, and it was the most-watched channel in the UK. As well as The Voice, he commissioned shows such as Call The Midwife, Ripper Street and The Syndicate.

Cohen said he was 'honored' to be the BBC Director of Television, adding, "I've had a wonderful time at BBC One and am grateful for the work of all the talented people who have made the channel the most popular in the UK in recent years."
According to the BBC, Cohen's future commissions for the channel include an adaptation of JK Rowling's book The Casual Vacancy, a sitcom written by David Walliams, a comedy series starring Matt Lucas plus new dramas The White Queen, Atlantis and an adaptation of the book Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell.
