Fatboy Slim has praised Daft Punk’s melodic simplicity and says they have given dance music a kick up the arse.

The DJ and producer, real name Norman Cook, spoke about the French duo following the success of their recently released comeback single ‘Get Lucky’.

The Daily Star quotes Cook as saying: “I’m so impressed by them. It’s a breath of fresh old-skool air. The EDM thing has become a collection of huge noises that sound the same and are a bit bland.

“I’m glad Daft Punk have given us all a kick up the arse. They are so simple and melodic. They’re the last great dance music supergroup you’ll hear.”

Several of the collaborators on the new Daft Punk album have spoken of the duo’s endeavor to recapture some retro disco magic within a contemporary context.

The robotic duo look set to score their first No. 1 single tonight (April 28) with the Pharrell Williams and Nile Rodgers collaboration ‘Get Luck’, having already reached the top spot in Ireland on Friday (April 26).

The duo have switched their black leather for sequinned suits

Their fourth studio album Random Access Memories - the follow-up to 2005’s Human After All - is due for release on May 20.
