MGMT have premiered new track 'Mystery Disease' from their upcoming third studio album at a live show in Pennsylvania, US. Check it out below.

The psychedelic duo are currently on tour across the US, and performed the new track during their gig at Penn State University. The swirling track mixes sixties influences with heavy guitar sounds and is believed to have been taken from recording sessions from the band's new album. Adding to the trippy sounds of the track, the duo, Andrew VanWyngarden and Ben Goldwasse, performed at the show in front of animated, acid-influenced visuals.

The band have previously promised that their upcoming third album will be an even more experimental listen than their 2010 album, Congratulations. Goldwasser told Rolling Stone magazine in an interview in January this year, "We're not trying to make music that everyone understands the first time they hear it."

Andrew VanWyngarden added in the Rolling Stone interview: "There's no illusion on [Columbia Records'] part that we're going to turn into a Top 40 band. That's kind of comforting."

The album apparently has a song called 'Alien Days' which, according to VanWyngarden, is "about that feeling when a parasitic alien is in your head, controlling things."

Below: big comebacks of 2013 - can MGMT compete with Bowie and Daft Punk?
