This week sees the launch of this year's essential summer app, Festival Ready, which ensures no one ever need lose their friends - or indeed their tent - when they head off to festivals this summer.
From Victorinox, the originators of the Swiss Army knife, the Festival Ready app offers a host of essential functions for any outdoor event,most notably an innovative navigation system to track down missing mates and that all-important camp site.
As well as offering weather info and communication elements, the app runs a hi-tec map system, allowing you and your friends to drop pins on a virtual recreation of any festival - ensuring you and your pals can keep track of each other at all times. So losing people when they shoot off for a late night chinese on the other side of the field is no longer an option.
After connecting with friends using the Festival Ready app, users will be able to navigate the festival using augmented reality - picking up any pins you or your friends have dropped. Your tent, a hidden stage or just to find your friends chilling out in the sun, drop a pin for friends to find and eliminate the festival misery of tracking down lost mates - or wandering around fields for hours on your own.
"Victorinox designed the Festival Ready app in the spirit of a digital Swiss Army Knife, specially for the British festival experience," says Adrienne Merrill, brand communications director of Victorinox. "Multi-tools include the 3D navigation which is truly functional, along with many useful elements. We aim to make having fun in a field even more enjoyable.

The app also offers a camping checklist (boots AND flip flops are essentials), a torch function and LED messaging - so you can communicate with your friends, even when you're crammed into a tent bouncing up and down to Crystal Fighters or rocking out with Fall Out Boy.
