Noel Gallagher apparently can’t work up the enthusiasm to work on new material, despite having written several songs for the follow-up to his successful solo debut ‘Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds’.

Last week Liam Gallagher slammed his brother for relying too heavily on Oasis songs in his band’s live sets, but perhaps Noel simply can’t build up the motivation to write new songs for the live set.

“I’ve still got the songs I did with [dance group] Amorphous Androgynous, but the moment has gone now with that. Because it was written and recorded in the studio in a rather psychedelic manner, I’m currently in the process of trying to work out how to play the f**king things on the guitar.

“But I’m not doing anything with any great enthusiasm at the minute.

“I know i’ll probably do it [the new album] with [producer] Dave Sardy, I’ll probably do some of it in America. Other than that I’ve not really thought about it.”

He also admitted that in comparison to former Britpop rival Damon Albarn he’s ‘too bone idle’ to branch out in the same way, conceding that the money he makes from his Oasis back catalogue reduced the incentive to get back to work or explore new avenues like Albarn's work with other musicians and his operas.

Noel apparently isn't too enthusiastic about getting back to work

“I’m too bone idle for that,” he told Q magazine.

“Damon? F**king hell, I was sayng to him, ‘Have you ever had a month off?’ I used to be like that, but I do like resting on my laurels.

“Every time I think about going back to work ‘AKA... What A life!’ will come on the radio and I’ll go ‘Haha, what’s the point? F**king done it. Going to the Groucho [club], see you later.”
