Listen: Charles Ramsey turns internet star with new musical remix

When Charles Ramsey found three girls, missing for more than a decade, in an unremarkable residential house in Cleveland, Ohio, he became a local celebrity. Given his charismatic interview, it was only a matter of time until he found himself auto-tuned and made into a viral video.

After several sub-par attempts, auto-tune maestros The Gregory Brothers stepped in and showed the internet how it's done, uploading their video 'Dead Giveaway'.

Using standout comments, like "when little pretty white girl ran into a black man's arms" and "my neighbour's got big testicles 'cos we see this dude everyday" the group turn Ramsay's account of the rescue into a synthed-up dance track.

The majority of YouTube commenters remark simply that the video is humourous, or that Charles is a hero, but some find the video in slightly bad taste.

"Where has our country gone to?" asks one viewer. "How is that such a tragic event could be turned into a song?...This man was a hero, so why mock him and those helpless women?"

Another writes: "It hasn't even been four days since these girls were found... This is sad because no one can take anything serious anymore. This could of waited."

But most commenters see the clip as a humourous tribute, and reiterate that Ramsey is considered a hero.

"Lets go Cleveland show this man some props!!" writes a recent viewer.
