A crowd of male Danny Brown fans at the rapper's New York show heckled Kitty Pryde when she was on stage, telling her to "suck his d**k."
Brown came under fire recently when a girl attempted to perform oral sex on the rapper during one of his concerts. Although Danny initially seemed unperturbed by the act, friend and support act Kitty Pryde later published a blog saying that it had been sexual assault and he had not been comfortable with it. Danny himself did not speak out about the situation.
It seems some fans didn't appreciate Kitty's defence of Danny, however, as a group of male Danny Brown fans heckled her while she was on stage at Danny's New York gig, at his support act.
Devon Maloney, who attended the show, wrote in the Village Voice: "A throng of over-stimulated, over-privileged white boys in the crowd last night kicked up and maintained a chant of "SUCK HIS D**K, SUCK HIS D**K" at the 20-year-old rapper/opener while she performed."
She went on to wonder why Danny didn't speak out about the issue during his set, particularly after Kitty had been so quick to jump to his defence after the oral sex incident.
"On the one hand, Kitty is a big girl who ought to be able to carry her own weight on a tour like this; it's part of the deal," Devon continued.
"On the other, it would be cool, for once, to watch a rapper as currently beloved as Danny Brown come out and straight-up eviscerate those crowd members who tried to make his "baby girl Kitty" (his words) feel small and sh*tty and unsafe after she penned 1,500 words (and over the past year, likely thousands more) ripping into his critics."
Danny Brown has been at the centre of controversy recently
Danny later tweeted Devon, saying, "that shit made me sad to ... Cause obviously u popping off at the mouth about shit u don't know about ..."
Kitty also blogged about the incident saying that Danny did not need to defend her. She wrote, "it happens it’s a thing, and my own brothers have chanted much worse things at me in public.
"It’s like i am the one that is cute on this stage and after this im gonna go hang out with the guy you people paid so much money to “meet & greet” and he doesnt think ur cool for being mean to me so have a lovely evening enjoy the show and good luck trying to sneak a 40 oz back into your house w/o your mom noticing
"But i can yell at dumb swagboys on my own i dont need a big strong black man to do it for me."
