Axed The Voice contestant, Nate James, has lashed out at Jessie J's choice of song after he was rejected from the show.
Nate is now saying that he wishes that he'd picked Danny O'Donoghue to be his mentor instead as, while Jessie chose to put his rival Lovelle through to the next stage, the other judges agreed that they would have picked Nate.
"Will, Danny and Tom said to Jessie that I sang better," Nate told The Sun. "In all honesty I should have probably chosen a different mentor. Looking at it now, Danny didn’t have a soul guy on his team. I think I’d have stood out a lot more as being one of the soulful ones on Danny’s team. Hindsight’s a wonderful thing."
He continued by criticising the song Jessie chose for him to perform with Lovelle. Nate pointed out that 'No Air' is by Jordin Sparks featuring Chris Brown, and has predominantly female vocals, and so he did not have an equal chance to shine.
Nate said, "Jessie chose the song but it’s a girl’s song. When I found out I was like, ‘What is this? Lovelle featuring Nate James?’"

However, Nate did specify that he's not bitter about the decision and losing out to Lovelle, adding, "Lovelle’s a phenomenal talent."
He also said that he wants to work with Jessie in the future, despite the fact that he thinks he should have chosen a different mentor. Speaking to Bang Showbiz, he explained, "I’d love to work with Jessie. Whether it’s me featuring her or her featuring me remains to be seen.
"She’s a great writer so it would be great to do a track with her. I think she’s fantastic so it would be brilliant to work with her but we’ll see what happens."
