Daft Punk have spoken of their shock at the huge response to their 2013 return, which has already secured them the biggest single of their 20 year career, and is likely to see them score one of the biggest selling albums of the year.

Daft Punk this week spent a third week at No.1 on the UK singles chart, and anticipation for the band's fourth studio album, Random Access Memories, continues to grow a week ahead of its official release date (20 May 2013). In a new interview with Dazed & Confused magazine, the duo claim that the reaction to their comeback is 'crazy' and say they have no idea why fans are 'freaking out' at their return.

"Right now my brain is shutting everything down, making me pretend that everything is normal," says Guy-Manuel De Homem-Christo. "It still amazes me that everyone is so crazy about what we are doing. I’m like, either I am crazy or everybody’s crazy.

"Maybe I am just dreaming but people seem to really freak out at what we are doing. I don’t know why!"

Robotic counterpart Thomas Bangalter reveals the band's laid-back approach to revealing their new material with the world, saying there was no anxiety about releasing new album, Random Access Memories.

"The music itself is exactly what we wanted it to be," Bangalter tells the magazine. "We have no anxiety about that. Sharing it with the world is something different. It’s a big question mark. There’s a certain amount of excitement and madness that enters the equation."

Daft Punk and Giorgio Moroder were interview for the new issue of Dazed & Confused, which is on sale now. Click here to read all the quotes from the interview.
