Robbie Williams slammed Radio 1 DJ Nick Grimshaw at the Sony Radio Academy Awards last night (13 May), labelling him a 'b*stard'.

Robbie was playing a set at the event, which took place at London's Grosvenor House, when he hit out at Nick Grimshaw - over the fact that Radio 1 previously said they wouldn't play Robbie's tracks as he was too old.

"I did the Brits and started singing, 'Hey-ho, here we go' to a bunch of industry people and they were all just like, 'F**k off, you’re fat and you’re old. And Radio 1 don’t play you no more – you’re fat and you’re old'," Robbie said.

He then looked at Nick Grimshaw before adding, "Isn't that right, Nick, you b*stard?"

Robbie then went on to reference the BBC child sex scandal, specifically mentioning the investigation into abusive broadcasters named Operation Yewtree, which was put into place after Jimmy Savile.

"I came here and looked around and thought, 'I’m the only person I recognise here tonight'," Robbie continued. "It’s like looking at the cast of Operation Yewtree 2014. Ooh – too soon, too soon?"

However, Robbie soon went back to talking about Radio 1 after performing 'Candy', saying, "That’s 'Candy'. How four-year-old do you want it, Radio 1? ... Nah, Radio 1’s not something that keeps me up at night, not at all.

He finished, "They’ve let me back on anyway with Dizzee Rascal, so thanks for that, Radio 1."

Too old for Radio One! Who joined Robbie on the irrelevant list?
