Daft Punk fans have been very vocal about their response to the duo's new album, Random Access Memories, after it was streamed on iTunes a week ahead of its official release.
The new record has met with a mixed response online, with some ecstatic to have a new record from the robots while others seem unsure of the new direction.
"It's #amazing your life will change after you hear it," one fan tweeted.
Another tweeter agreed, "Whether unplanned leak of genius marketing plan, it looks/sounds like another incredible album from the robots! #daftpunk #ram."
But another wrote: "After giving it a third listen I've just got my fingers crossed that the Daft Punk leak is a fake and the real album will be out next week." Clearly someone not happy with the new sound.
Another disgruntled listener went a little further in their criticism, writing: "Crap. Got a virus downloading an illegal leak of the Daft Punk CD. Now my computer is playing nothing but crappy half-hearted french disco."
Considering all the build up and all the hype that's been buzzing around the new record, it's not surprising that some fans are most concerned with hearing the new record in the way it was intended. Upon its official release.
"Just listen to the Daft Punk record the way they wanted us to. Don't download the leak. A special artist like that deserves our respect," wrote one devotee.
'Get Lucky' brought the duo their first No. 1 single
Much like the initial reports from music journalists, however, many of the opinions on Twitter were from people stil struggling to decide on the new record.
"So I'm finally listening to the Daft Punk leak now. I want to save my judgement but not sure if I like???" one undecided listener posted.
Random Access Memories will be officially released on May 20 in the UK, but fans who don't want to download the leak can still get an early listen via the iTunes stream.
The first single from the album, 'Get Lucky' with Pharrell Williams, brought the duo their first No. 1 and has stayed in the top spot for three weeks.
