Chris Brown has announced that his new single 'They Don't Know' will feature previously unheard vocals from Aaliyah.
The song will be included on his upcoming new album X - which also features Pharrell Williams, Timbaland, Kendrick Lamar and Nicki Minaj - and Brown has already shot a music video for it 'in the hood'.
So far the news has inspired a strong negative reaction, with entertainment website Holy Moly writing in their headline, 'Just f**k off you terrible c**t'.
Fans on Twitter seem to agree that the news sees Brown at a new low, saying that it's disrespectful for Brown to use Aaliyah's vocals - and questioning who allowed this to happen.
Jade Hill wrote, "I doubt Aaliyah would sing with that creep Chris Brown if she was alive. It's criminal she's being used in a single of his," and user Trillary Clinton said, "WHAT IS THIS TREND W/ TRYNA PUT AALIYAH ON TRACKS? Y'ALL KNOW AALIYAH WOULDN'T MESS W/ DRAKE OR CHRIS BROWN IN REAL LIFE SO CAN WE NOT."
User @KingOfSunshine posted, "How dare woman beater Chris Brown use #Aaliyah's vocals on a new track? Like she would have had anything to do with him if she were alive?"
Chris Brown has angered fans with new Aaliyah sample
And some fans were too angry to even articulate an actual reaction, writing instead, "I'M SO ANGRY THAT I CAN'T BREATHE," and "CHRIS BROWN IS USING UNRELEASED AALIYAH VOCALS IN HIS NEW SONG I HATE YOU 2013 YOU CAN GO DIE RIGHT NOW."
Aaliyah was previously featured on Drake track 'Enough Said', and Drake has a documented obsession with the singer - he has referenced her work in songs, wrote a letter to her on the ninth anniversary of her death, wears an earpiece with her face on it during every show and has two tattoos dedicated to her.
Considering that Drake and Brown are rivals, fans are waiting to see how he will react.
