30 Second To Mars frontman Jared Leto has explained that their new record, LOVE LUST FAITH + DREAMS is a new beginning for the band, explaining the choices they made when creating it.
The band explained that the new record was about exploring new territory, and that they're excited to be breaking new ground with their fourth album.
Speaking to Radio.com (watch here) Leto explained the album's title, saying: "Those four words really sum up the record in a really pointed way. It's a new beginning for us, this is an entirely new chapter of our lives, not just creatively but in a lot of ways. It's exciting."
The new record cover features one of Damien Hirst's spot paintings, and Leto also spoke of his respect for the 'wonderful' and 'groundbreaking' British artist, and the affinity between the image and the personality of the record.
"[We're] very proud to have a Damien Hirst on the cover and the actual CD itself is another Damien Hirst painting. I'm a huge admirer of his work.
"This album is all about colour, it's all about celebration , it's all about dynamic, it's about energy and the music video, this short film we've made is very much the same. It's alive with lush colours and it's vibrant, full of movement and energy."

Leto explained the band's reasoning behind choosing 'Up In The Air' as the first single from the new album, which has been written and recorded in locations around the world including France, Germany and India.
"[It's] the best conversation starter... we have this collection of 12 songs, that's the one that starts the conversation about this album in the best way I think. It's a really energetic song, it's an incredibly passionate song and, dare we say... sexual. Which is kinda great, I mean to have sexuality be part of a song I think is important, at least for us, to explore new territory."
LOVE LUST FAITH + DREAMS hits the shops on May 21.
