Kings Of Leon, Yeah Yeahs Yeahs, Kendrick Lamar and Macklemore are all set to play Hangout Festival this weekend at the three day event held on Alabama's Gulf Coast.

The seaside festival is welcoming an all-star lineup this year, with other acts including big names such as Grizzly Bear, The Roots, Public Enemy, Dirty Projectors and Ellie Goulding.

The two main stages on the beach spring into action today (May 17) but the smaller venues gave festival goers a warm up preview yesterday, showcasing hip hop, country rock and bass music.

The coastal event gives music fans a unique festival going experience, with flip flops and bikinis being almost compulsory dress code.

"It's my second year here and I love it," one fan told MTV.

"You're down here on the beach, this becomes a different world, it's amazing... I love this environment.

Kendrick Lamar is among the big names appearing

MTV are streaming live performances throughout the weekend.

Highlights from the festival, including sets from the Shins, Bassnectar, The Roots, Imagine Dragons and Yeah Yeah Yeahs, will also be broadcast across MTV's network of channels.
