Calvin Harris mocked his own songwriting talents at the 2013 Ivor Novello awards, speaking of his 'repetitive' songs as he collected the award for Songwriter Of The Year.
The award usually honours songwriters from the worlds of rock or pop, but Harris took home the award despite writing dance-orientated club hits - and was credited with scoring 'the musical soundtrack of 2012'.
Radio 1 DJ Pete Tong acknowledged the change when presenting Harris with the award, saying, "Dance music and DJs never believed they belonged in this room before. Now we have a role model."
Harris even mocked his own lyrics when accepting the award, telling the room, "Like my lyrics, I'll keep this [speech] brief and repetitive."
He added, "I can't believe I've even been let through the door of this ceremony. This is easily the greatest achievement of my life."
