Justin Bieber has until midnight tonight (17 May) to claim his monkey from a German animal shelter - or it'll be lost to him forever.
The star has been warned that if he does not pick the monkey up before the deadline, it will officially belong to Germany instead.
Mally, the 17 week old capuchin, was seized by customs officials after Bieber flew into Germany and did not have the proper papers for the animals - leading officials to put the monkey into quarantine and later, into a Munich Animal Protection League (MAPL) shelter.
Now officials have warned Bieber that if he does not collect the monkey before midnight, Mally will become the property of Germany. They are also billing the teenage popstar for Mally's care, vet visits and food as well, which is thought to cost several thousand dollars.
Customs spokesperson Thomas Meister said last month, "If by May 17 there is nothing, then he loses ownership of the animal and it becomes the property of the Federal Republic of Germany.
"If Bieber really does want to place the animal in a zoo, he is welcome to contact customs authorities and forfeit Mally at any time, but will likely have to pay costs associated with keeping the monkey so far and a fine."

MAPL have so far received two emails claiming to be from Bieber's management company, which they say asked them how long they had to produce the paperwork before the monkey would be put down, and whether it could be given to a zoo.
Customs officials say they have so far not received any formal request from either Bieber or any of his representatives.
