Tame Impala bassist Nick Allbrook has announced he has left the band, following their performance at The Belvoir Amphitheatre in Perth, Australia on Saturday night.

In a statement on Tame Impala’s website, the band have said that Allbrook is “hopping off the Tame Impala band wagon so that he can try and screw his head back on, and make an attempt to assimilate back into society. A task the rest of us fear we will one day have to perform...."

Allbrook explained his decision in an interview yesterday (20/5/13), telling NME “All bands and projects and stuff will keep going, it’s just hard to keep them all going if you’re touring all the time,”

“The only bad part will be not seeing my mates every day. I love them more than anything.”

The bassist will be replaced by Cam Avery from POND, a band which Allbrook actually fronts alongside his role in Tame Impala.

Tame Impala will continue to play dates throughout the summer, including festival appearances at Glastonbury and Reading & Leeds and a special Hammersmith Apollo show on June 25th 2013, for more information visit Gigwise Tickets.
