Queens Of The Stone Age frontman, Josh Homme has praised Arctic Monkeys for 'getting weird' and going in their own direction for their third studio album Humbug, which Homme produced.
However, the legendary rocker insists that he didn't have a 'heavy impact' on their band's third record as he wanted the Sheffield band to believe in themselves anf follow their own path.
Speaking of the Arctic Monkeys, Homme told ShortList magazine: "They're fantastic. People have this incorrect assumption that I had some heavy impact on them, but as a producer I prefer to be more transparent, like a transparent cake dish put over the top of bands to protect them from outsiders, so they can be themselves.
"That was the record they needed to make - they wanted to get weird."

Queens Of The Stone Age will release their eagerly awaited album ...Like Clockwork on June 3, 2013 and recently performed the record in its entirety at a gig in Los Angeles which the band have since made available online.
...Like Clockwork includes collaborations with Alex Turner, Trent Reznor, Elton John and Jake Shears of the Scissor Sisters.
Speaking of his relationship with Shears, Homme added: "Jake is my TV-watching buddy, we have dinner at my house and watch 'Game of Thrones'.
"He's also talented as well. Nothing strengthens a friendship like putting your artistic faith in your friend's hands and saying, 'Don't make me look bad.'"
