Daft Punk have scored their first ever UK No.1 album, selling 165,000 copies of Random Access Memories in one week, becoming the fastest selling album of 2013.
Daft Punk follows the success of single 'Get Lucky', which also gave the band their first ever UK No.1 single, spending four weeks at the top spot. This week however, 'Get Lucky' slips to No.2, as Naughty Boy and Sam Smith top the singles chart with their collaboration, 'La La La'.
Daft Punk sold 165,000 copies of Random Access Memories last week, becoming the fastest selling release of the year - beating Michael Buble's previous record of 121,000 with his To Be Loved album. Daft Punk reportedly outsold the entire Top Ten to claim the No.1, with new releases by The National, Texas, 30 Seconds To Mars and Demi Lovato also hitting this week's new Top Ten.
Other new albums in the Top 40 come from Jamie Cullum at No.20 with Momentum and Beth Hart at No.27 with Seesaw.
