There are a lot of tall people at Heaven to see HAIM, which is why it’s lucky that the band’s music more than makes up for it. So while it’s a pity to not always be able to see Este, Alana and Danielle - and their effortlessly cool stage presence - the show isn’t exactly lacking for it.

Opening with ‘Better Off’ and heading almost seamlessly into ‘The Wire’, there’s a slight lack of the usual quirky stage banter from the girls - Este in particular is known for her off-colour comments - although the reason for this could be that they’re nervous (“So nervous!” Este emphasises later). It’s an endearing honesty, and there would have been no way to have known if they hadn’t told anyone; their set is flawless and they seem perfectly comfortable and natural on stage.

As well as the tracks, there are also some stunning drumming demonstrations from the girls, who have an incredible talent at both playing and staying in sync with each other. Not only that, but they undoubtedly seem like they’re having fun on stage - shaking their hair and dancing around, as well as beaming at each other every opportunity they get. Haim are making sure that they have a good time, and the audience are having just as good of a time with them.

Haim haven’t released their debut album yet so there aren’t many songs, and a cover of Fleetwood Mac’s ‘Oh Well’ helps pad out the set. Still, all the favourites are included as both the Forever and iTunes Festival: London 2012 EPs get their full airing - with ‘Falling’ taking on a particular ethereal feel in the setting - and the band seem almost emotional when introducing ‘Forever’.

“This is the reason why we’re here,” Este says. It’s not at all - they’re talented and make undeniably great songs - but it definitely served as some sort of catalyst. No matter the reason, it’s obvious that Haim are definitely going to stick around for a while.
