The Roots and Elvis Costello have joined forces for collaborate on a new full-length album Wise Up Ghost - see Costello talking about the record below.
The icon and the funk pioneers say that Wise Up Ghost was recorded 'in secret' and 'in the dead of night'. It has now been announced that will be released on 17 September on the legendary Blue Note Records.
Costello says that the album is "the shortest distance between here and there," adding that it contains "both rhythm and what is ready."
Speaking back in March about rumours of the record, Costello added: "We didn't work out any theories about it, we just played, and the next thing we knew we had a record."
Roots man ?uestlove said of the record: "It's a moody, brooding affair, cathartic rhythms and dissonant lullabies. I went stark and dark on the music, Elvis went HAM on some ole Ezra Pound shit.”
