US rockers 30 Seconds To Mars, fronted by actor Jared Leto, performed a surprise mini-gig in London's Soho Square this week (30 May, 2013). See a video of the performance below.
Jared Leto and his band performed three songs at the 'flash mob' show, after scoring a Top Ten album this week with new release, Love Lust Faith + Dreams, which hit No.5 in the UK charts this week.
The band were surrounded by fans for the show - most of whom were on half-term holiday from school and alerted to the Soho Square gig on social networks. The band were surrounded by fans, many of whom climbed on top of each other's shoulders to get a glimpse of the US stars at the gig, which took place just yards from London's busy Oxford Street.
The band performed to approximately 500 fans - many of whom were attending with their parents. Some had travelled as far as Birmingham, North Wales and The Isle Of Wight to see the show.
During the show, Leto called for the audience to move back from where the band were performing as excited fans threatened to overcrowd the band - but the call was largely ignored by fans.
"What should we sing?" asked the rocker / actor of his outdoor audience - before performing a pre-planned set of 'Do Or Die', 'The Kill', 'closer To The Edge' and 'Kings And Queens'.
"If you haven't heard our album you're going to go to hell," Leto told the audience, before speaking of his surprise that the police hadn't shown up to stop the show, and claiming he would sing loud enough for The Queen to hear the performance.
