Former Smiths legend Johnny Marr joined disco icon Nile Rodgers on stage in Manchester to perform the Chic classic 'Le Freak' together. See footage below.
Rodgers was playing a gig at the Manchester Ritz when he invited hometown hero Marr on stage to perform the track together.
It isn't the first time that the pair have appeared onstage together, as Marr and Rodgers have been friends for years and regularly perform together when they're in the same city. Marr even named his son Nile.
Tweeting after the show, the Chic guitarist posted: "The gig tonight was revitalizing but I'm not going to push it. I'm going to chill now. Big ups to #Manchester #CHIC #theritz & @johnny_Marr."

Speaking to Drowned in Sound about their relationshio last year, Marr said: "Nile and I, we first spoke on the phone about 12 years ago. And I mean, first off in 1978, '79 when I was first getting my guitar style together, I was turned onto Nile’s music and his songs and it was a game-changer for me, really sent me down a road that has really stuck with me. So he’s been a massive influence since then and that’s been on record over all the years of my career., which I think used to surprise people somewhat."
He added: "When Chic-ism came out, people were saying 'Oh, you’re an influence on Johnny Marr' …”Who is this guy?' So we spoke on the phone through mutual friends and then with the wonders of modern technology, we started emailing each other which was fantastic! But yeah, when my son was born, we named him Nile. And he’s turned out to be a pretty good guitar player and he’s very, very happy to be named after him!"
The pair are both set to appear at Glastonbury festival next month. Can we expect another collaboration?
