Radio One DJ Nick Grimshaw has spoken out against Take That and One Direction appearing at this summer's Glastonbury festival. Which neither of them are...
'Grimmy' is one of the many BBC presenters lined up to host coverage of the festival next month, but speaking to The Independent, he declared his views on what pop acts are 'right' for the event.
"I don't think Take That should do it," he said. "I think Gary Barlow is really great at writing songs. I think he's good, I don't think I really want to see Howard Donald on the Pyramid Stage."
He did however, say that Rita Ora would be ideal for the festival, but not pop sensation One Direction.
He continued: "I guess Rita's music sort of takes loads of stuff from music like dub and reggae and house music that would played at Glastonbury. I don't think One Direction's music sounds like the stuff that is historically supported by Glastonbury."
How would you feel about 1D making an appearance at Glastonbury festival?
The 'Sweat The Small Stuff' host is not entirely against mainstream pop acts performing at Glasto though, as he went on to describe Beyonce as the 'perfect example' of a pop artist pulling off a great festival slot.
"People were a bit like, 'Should she be playing Glastonbury?' because she isn't a man with a guitar but she killed it," he continued. "I think Rihanna could play it. I think Rihanna would be great to see. She did Hackney and she was incredible."
Yesterday, the BBC unveiled their plans to broadcast 250 hours of coverage from Glastonbury and the full line up was announced.
