John Legend has revealed that Kanye West and Lauryn Hill have been his biggest musical inspirations for his career and believes West is 'one of the most creative people of our generation'.
Legend has often collaborated with West on a number of different music projects over the past ten years and feels he has learned a lot from the rapper along the way.
Speaking to 4Music during a Google+ Hangout, Legend said: "Kanye’s such a creative genius and one of the most important creative people of our generation.
"I've definitely learnt a lot [from him]. I don't know if it's any one thing, but just having someone around who's so great at what they do... giving you advice all the time... has been really helpful for my career."

The 'Used To Love You' singer also explained that American R'n'B legend Lauryn Hill became a huge influence on his career as he had the opportunity to work with Hill from a young age.
Legend added: "[Working with Hill] was a great experience for me because I was young... and I played on 'Everything Is Everything'
"A lot of what I learned from her was more from listening to her album than from any advice she gave me, but she told me to 'keep it simple' because I was trying to show her how well I could play the piano... and sometimes it's actually cooler to play less."
The 34-year-old singer-songwriter is set to perform alongside the likes of Beyonce and Jennifer Lopez this weekend as part of the Chime For Change concert in Twickenham (June 1).
