An acrylic nail reportedly worn by Lady Gaga on her Born This Way tour has been sold in an internet auction to a fan for $12,000.

The nail, displaying one of the many designs that Gaga exhibits in her live show, was recovered by a crew member at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin, Ireland last September.

The crew member reportedly "noticed an object on the floor of the stage, which at first I thought was a guitar plectrum," - a forgiveable mistake giving the extremely pointed design. The website Artfact, where the nail was purchased from, packaged it with other merchandise and photos.

Included was a photo of the 'Mother Monster'performing on stage- which apparently shows her missing the fingernail, and another photo of the performer in New York wearing a full set of the nails, which are black decorated with tiny gold beads. This was accompanied by a wristband, a tee shirt, and an Aviva Stadium staff handbook.

Lady Gaga is due to make her return in 2013 with new material from her third studio album, ARTPOP. The star is said to have finished recording the album, and recently premiered extracts from the record at a Versace fashion show.
