A large mechanical bird is currently being set up on top of the pyramid stage at Glastonbury, prompting a new wave of speculation regarding its purpose.

Twitter user @dieso24 posted a picture of the animatronic creature yesterday (June 2nd), tweeting that 'it's head and wings move', causing many to question how it would be used, why it was there and which act would be using it during their performance.

The world renowned festival is currently being set up before gates open later this month on June 26th, with Arctic Monkeys, The Rolling Stones and Mumford and Sons set to headline over the weekend.

Although Coldplay projected lights onto the legendary stage in 2011, this will be the first time the stage is used in this way, with artists usually having to refrain from their full stage theatrics in a headline performance.

It was announced last week that the BBC will be providing it's largest coverage to date for this year's festival, streaming six main stages throughout the weekend across TV, Radio, online and mobile, culminating in 250 hours of live footage.

The festival also announced it's full lineup last Thursday (June 30th), with a huge list of acts including Sir Bruce Forsyth set to play over 55 stages.
