Sigur Ros have released a brand new video for the title track of their upcoming seventh album Kveikur. Watch it below.

Directed by Sarah Hopper, the perplexing video features a mix of live footage and clips from the British Film Institute archives.

The'Kveikur' clip is quite fitting for the Icelandic trio, matching their ambient and ethereal sound. The video starts with a heavily-occluded track shot of what could be a horse - and is slightly reminiscent of a horror movie, which gives a spooky edge to the ethereal vocals.

Interpretations offered are that the footage is that of the Iceland's volcanic landscape, but the video is arguably to be viewed and admired, rather than puzzled over, as it adds to the static sounds throughout the title single of the new album. As the track builds, the colour broadens from monochrome, to vibrant reds of laser lights.
