Metallica sent metal fans into a wild frenzy at Detroit's Orion Music + More Festival yesterday (8 June) as they performed a surprise set under a fake name to play their 1983 debut album Kill 'Em All in its entirety. Watch the video below.

Fans were expecting an unknown band called Dehaan to perform before the metal legends appeared on the Vans Damage Inc stage to perform the 10-song set.

Hardcore Metallica fans at the Detroit festival may have picked up on the fact that there could be a surprise appearance as Dehaan is actually the last name of Dane Dehaan, who will star in the band's forthcoming 3D film, Through The Never.

Metallica frontman, James Hetfield was first onto the stage saying, "We're here to introduce Dehaan. Does anyone know who they are?".

Fans who missed the secret set will have a second chance to catch Metallica later today (9 June) as they are set to headline the Belle Island festival's final day. The Orion Music + More Festival will also feature performances from Red Hot Chili Peppers, Deftones and Oxford band, Foals.
