Biffy Clyro performed a short, surprise gig last night at London's Tate Modern, in support of anti-poverty campaign, Agit8.
Playing as part of the campaign, which is taking place ahead of next week's G8 summit, Biffy Clyro braved the chilly summer evening weather to perform at 8pm on London's South Bank.
The band were a surprise act, having only announced their set hours beforehand via twitter. Durig their short set, they spoke of how they were happy to be there, and how great a cause the Agit8 campaign is.
They opened their acoustic set with a cover of Rage Against the Machine's 'Killing in the Name Of', which they described as their 'favourite protest song', before playing a stripped back version of their 'Biblical' single.

Their set was acoustic and their crowd, which had amassed gradually over the evening hiding from the rain under nearby trees, quickly dispersed once Biffy had finished their set, swarming the rear of the stage in hope of seeing, or briefly meeting the band.

The atmostphere was generally appreciative, showering the band with whoops as they came to the stage and applause after they finshed playing, even if more sombre and refined than you would expect at a full length Biffy gig.

Other artists performing included Newton Faulker, James Morrisson and Tom Odell. The evening was punctuated by videos of protest songs. The objective of the evening was to raise awareness of poverty in the hope of making poverty a priority at the G8 conference next week.
