Biffy Clyro were among the big winners at last night's Kerrang Awards, picking up the best album award for their 2013 release, Opposites.
"I don't think we've ever won a best album before so it really is mega exciting," front-man Simon Neil said after receiving the award, before revealing initial doubts over releasing a double album. "It gives us a bit of faith in ourselves they say, "and faith in music listeners that they will give things time if they think it's good enough, so it's very exciting."
You Me At Six won best event, for their Final Night of Sin concert at Wembley last year, trumping Green Day's secret set at Reading last year and the Kerrang Tour.
The Best Live Band award went to Black Veil Brides, who beat Enter Shikari, Bullet for my Valentine and The Blackout.
Iron Maiden, Slayer, and Venom were all honoured with Inspiration, Legend, and Icon awards, paying respect to their numerous contributions to music over their substantial careers.
Best British Newcomer was Lower Than Atlantis and Best International Newcomer went to Of Mice & Men.
