Editors frontman Tom Smith has questioned whether Glastonbury ever had 'an edge', following conflict this week as Richard Hawley and Billy Bragg shared conflicing opinions on the Worthy Farm Event.
Earlier this week, Hawley told Gigwise that he believed Glastonbury had 'lost all meaning' and that he was happy not to perform at the event - prompting Bragg to pen a lengthy response in The Guardian newspaper.
In a new interview with Gigwise, 'Weight Of Your Love' stars Editors have questioned whether Glastonbury was ever a political event, with frontman Smith saying "Did Glastonbury ever have an edge?" when asked in an interview.
Speaking to Gigwise, the Editors band mates drummer Ed Lay disagreed with the political stigma attached to the festival, with Ed commenting: "Glastonbury is just a festival of people having fun".

Lay added that the real excitement and buzz of the festival is what makes it so unique, not the supposed political undertones which Hawley and Bragg have been disputing this week.
Editors have just returned to the music scene, with their fourth album, A Ton Of Love, set for release in July. They'll be playing at Glastonbury at the end of June and claim the event will be: "one of the greatest festivals this year."
