MGMT have announced the long-awaited follow up to their 2010 album Congratulations, with their self-titled third album set for release on September 17.
The 10-track album will include previously unveiled tracks 'Alien Days', 'Your Life Is A Life' and 'Mystery Disease', plus a cover of 'Introspection' by obscure 60s bands, Faine Jade.
The tracklist for the new album is as follows:
Alien Days
Cool Song No. 2
Mystery Disease
Introspection
Your Life Is a Lie
A Good Sadness
Astro-Mancy
I Love You Too, Death
Plenty Of Girls In the Sea
An Orphan Of Fortune
The duo spoke to Rolling Stone about their influences for the new album which included Aphex Twin and house music. When asked about the album, Goldwasser said: "We're not trying to make music that everyone understands the first time they hear it."
The album will feature previously heard songs, including 'Alien Days', 'Mystery Disease' and 'Your Life Is a Lie'; the latter two both premiered live earlier this year.

It appears that MGMT are pushing the boundaries of music this year, with an important aspect of the new album being the incorporation of "unique visual elements to accompany and illustrate the new music." Needless to say, we're counting down to September 17.
