The National claim they were turned down for Glastonbury, despite the band wanting to perform at Worthy Farm this weekend.
During their spectacular show last night (26 June, 2013) at Camden's Roundhouse, the band dedicated their track 'England' to Glastonbury goers, and revealed that they were turned down for the festival.
"This one's dedicated to anyone heading to Glastonbury tomorrow," said guitarist Aaron Dessner as he introduced the song.
"We wanted to play but we were refused," added frontman Matt Berninger at the London show.
The band were tipped to be among the 'secret' performers at Glastonbury when they announced their London gig so close to the festival. Current favourites for 'surprise' sets at Glastonbury include Alt-J, Dry The River and Toy.
Beady Eye are also believed to be performing at 11am on Friday 28 June, after a cryptic Twitter photo seemingly announced their appearance.
