Daft Punk's No.1 hit single 'Get Lucky' has become the first 2013-released track to break through the million copies sales barrier in a record breaking 69 days.

'Get Lucky', the first single from Daft Punk's comeback album, Random Access Memories, is the 136th single in the 60 year history of the UK's Official Singles Chart to break the one million mark. It follows in the footsteps of tracks such as Elton John's 'Something About the Way You Look Tonight/Candle in the Wind '97', which has sold 4.91 million copies.

Daft Punk guitarist and collaborator Nile Rodgers described himself as 'awestruck' in an interview with OfficialCharts.com.

“I’ve had big records and Number 1s; I have had records that were Number 1 in the United States but nowhere else… I’ve had records which have done well [in the UK], but not in the States. But to have this ubiquitous record, that is a hit everywhere… It’s amazing to me! I’m out on the road and I can hear it wherever I go. I’m flabbergasted!”

The French duo have managed to smash another record, with 'Get Lucky' being the fastest UK million-seller by a French act. The record was previously held by David Guetta's 'Titanium', which was the only French record to sell a million in the UK.

Rumours have been flying for the past week that Daft Punk will show up at Glastonbury for a secret set, and with such an achievement under their belts, they may do just that.
