On the morning of The Rolling Stones' headline slot at Glastonbury 2013, frontman Mick Jagger has revealed that he would have enjoyed a life as a teacher or journalist compared to the 'intellectually undemanding' career as a rock star.

In an interview on BBC Radio 4, Jagger admitted that part of him would have preferred to follow a more 'gratifying' career path even if he has earned millions as the lead singer of a legendary rock band.

Speaking to John Humphreys, Jagger said: "Well a school teacher would have been very gratifying I'm sure, you know, there are millions of things that you would have loved to have done, a politician, a journalist, I thought of being a journalist once.

"All these things that you think of when you're a teenager you could think, well I would have liked to have done that, but that's completely pointless. I don't feel frustrated for lack of control at all and I'm very pleased with what I've done.

"Obviously you would have liked to have done, everyone wants to have done more things in their lives. But it's a slightly intellectually, undemanding being a rock singer but you know you make the best of it."

Mick Jagger and The Rolling Stones will headline Glastonbury this evening (June 29)

The Rolling Stones will make their Glastonbury debut on the Pyramid Stage this evening (June 29) and are set to perform a huge set that will last over two hours.

Speaking of what has made his band so successful, Jagger added: "The whole thing about the Rolling Stones is that they're not just one thing, they're not just in one box. The Rolling Stones would pride themselves in the fact that they can do one kind of thing, and turn their hand to something else perhaps, maybe some with more success than others but we like to try our hand at lots of different things."

So far, Glastonbury-goers have experienced epic sets from the likes of Bastille, Dizzee Rascal and Friday's headliners, Arctic Monkeys. Jagger will be looking to trump the lot as he hits the stage with his bandmates Keith Richards, Ronnie Wood and Charlie Watts this evening.
