Kanye West is preparing to release ‘Black Skinhead’ as the first single from his new album Yeezus, complete with a music video and clean edit for the radio.

In the run up to Yeezus’ release West shunned the typical promotional routes, avoiding identifying a lead single and making his feelings about radio clear during his Governor’s Ball performance, saying: “Honestly, when I listen to radio, that ain’t where I wanna be no more.”

The first tastes of new music from the album came when a video of West voicing track ‘New Slaves’ was projected onto buildings around the world. More new music was then premiered during his appearance on Saturday Night Light, but the traditional promotional tactics were largely avoided.

Now Billboard reports that ‘Black Skinhead’ will be released on July 4 with a video and a radio-friendly edit.

Some fans feel Kanye took risks with his new album, to say the least, with an aggressive and confrontational rap style a big step away from his previous work.

But West has topped the charts in both the UK and US, and achieved the third highest opening week sales of 2013.

Producer Rick Rubin recently hinted that Yeezus might only be the first part of a two album plan, saying he told Kanye he should release it as two albums.

When asked if that meant Yeezus part two was under way he evasively replied “maybe”.
