Manic Street Preachers surprised fans by performing live on The X Factor in New Zealand. Watch a video of them performing 'If You Tolerate This Your Children Will Be Next' below

The Welsh heroes are currently touring Australia and New Zealand with the British and Irish Lions rugby team. It's well-known that the trio are 'massive rugby fans', and called the opportunity to tour with the Lions the 'chance of a lifetime' - especially as they've never played in New Zealand before.

Some fans may be shocked by their appearance on the reality singing contest, but they caused similar controversy in 2010 when they played on the British Strictly Come Dancing.

The band are currently gearing up to release a new studio album, believed to have the working title of Rewind The Film. The Manics previously revealed that there were 'two sides' to their cnew record and that it may come out as a double album - one 'acoustic' and one 'caustic kraut-rock'.

They've been recording new material at their own studio in Cardiff and in Hansa studios in Berlin - where David Bowie recorded Heroes.

Manic Street Preachers are set to headline Festival No.6 in September. For more information visit Gigwise Gig Tickets.
