While many of us were enjoying the Rolling Stones' first performance at Glastonbury, Heidi Wesson from Leicestershire began having contractions during their headline set at Worthy Farm on Saturday.
Wesson was rushed to the festivals Ivy Mead Medical centre where she gave birth at around 3.30am to a healthy baby girl.
Wesson described the experience as "surreal". She said: “I started having pains when the Stones were on, but it wasn’t until a few hours later that she was born. I’m absolutely shattered. I can’t wait to get in the car and get back.”
News of the Glastonbury birth spread and well-wishers came to shower the new parents with gifts. Wesson told the Leicester Mercury: “We got a standing ovation from people when we got out of the hospital tent and some of the security guards bought us some baby clothes, which I thought was lovely."

Heidi said the experience was slightly scary but everything ran smoothly before adding, "It's going to be a great story to tell her when she's older."
Another festival goer, Anthony Quinn overheard people talking about the birth while he was queuing for a sandwich. On the topic of the birth he said: “It’s crazy, but it’s a pretty cool thing to be able to put on your birth certificate – ‘born in a field at Glastonbury watching the Rolling Stones’.”
