An inquests into the self-inflicted death of a man at Bestival has revealed that his death was the result of a paranoid reaction to so-called 'legal highs'.
Daniel Parks attended the festival on the Isle of Wight last year with his wife. He purchased legal highs known as Magic Crystals prior to the event. Mr Parks was reportedly unaware of this at the time, but Magic Crystals are a prohibited substance.
He took the legal highs on the Thursday of the event and later suffered a paranoid reaction. The inquest by into his death heard his mood had improved by the Saturday of the festival.
However, later that day he locked himself in the campervan's toilet and inflicted a number of serious wounds to his arms, reported the Isle Of Wight coroner, Caroline Sumeray.
He was found by his wife and taken to hospital, but despite attempts to revive him, he died of hypovolemic shock on the following sunday.
