The iconic venue Earls Court has been given the green light for demolition by Mayor of London, Boris Johnson.
Music Week reports that developers will be moving in to build four 'villages"'and a 'high street', with over 7,500 high-end homes and creating thousands of permanent jobs. The build is expected to take 20 years.
Built in 1937 and hosting events in the 1948 Olympic Games, Earls Court has since seen countless legendary gigs from the likes of Queen, David Bowie and George Michael. It's also known as the place where Muse cut their stadium teeth when they broke out of arenas to play one of their first major venue gigs there in December 2004. The venue also hosted the Brit Awards from 2000-2010.

The BBC reports that while Boris Johnson gave the go-ahead to tear down the iconic West London venue and exhibition centre, he said he was "acutely aware of the concerns" of residents and added: "I'm in no doubt that the development will provide a massive boost not just to this part of the capital, but to London's wider economy as well."
Labour London Assembly Member Tom Copley later Tweeted : "Very disappointed but not at all surprised that the Mayor has approved demolition of Earls Court Exhibition Centre... An appalling decision."
