He might be one of the most in demand producers in the world right now, but Hot Chip’s frontman Alexis Taylor has now added his band’s name to the list of hopeful collaborators wanting to work with Pharrell Williams.

Taylor has recently released an album with his other band About Group, Between The Walls, and told MTV Hive that working with his side project was just as challenging as making a Hot Chip record, and then went on to speak of his respect for Pharrell.

“When Hot Chip started, we said in a press release that we were trying to be like the Neptunes. They were one of our favourite groups and producers. [Pharrell]’s obviously talented. Any of the bands that I’m in, we’d love to do something with people like that, specifically him.”

Taylor went of to discuss plans for a new Hot Chip album, saying: “We’re making some new music, but we’re at the beginning stages of that. One of the tracks was actually directly influenced by an old Pharrell beat for ‘Frontin’’ in some ways. One of the parts, one of the chord progressions, for this untitled Hot Chip sone was influenced by ‘Frontin’’.”

Hot Chip were apparently inspired byu the Neptunes in their early days

Hot Chip most recently released single ‘Dark and Stormy’, and are set to play a string of UK and European festival dates across the summer, including Latitude and its new sister festival Longitude, held in Dublin.

Pharrell continues to be a prolific collaborator, working with Daft Punk of their hit single ‘Get Lucky’ and announcing collaborations left, right and centre, including a track with Azealia Banks called “ATM Jam’.
