50 Cent has cancelled an appearance at a Birmingham branch of Argos after charges of domestic violence were brought against his. The rapper was due to visit the store on Union Street today (8 July) to promote his range of headphones.
The rapper, real name Curtis Jackson, is accused of attacking his ex-girlfriend and mother of his child after trashing her home in Los Angeles, according to court papers filed last week.
Jackson denies the charges with lawyers also say they were looking into the allegations themselve. "We have been in contact with LA City Attorney’s Office and are currently conducting out own investigation into these allegations," they said via a statement issued last week.
Police say that on 23 June they were called to a property in Los Angeles, where they found a woman and a baby. The woman, who said she had been in a relationship with the rapper for three years, told the officers that he had begun destroying her property during an argument. She added that he kicked open her bedroom door and then kicked her.

The police reported that they found the rooms ransacked with clothes strewn about and items including chandeliers, furniture and a television broken. They estimate there was as much as £4,700 damage done to the woman's home.
