On the heels of her new single, MIA hit the news this weekend with a disagreement with her record label Roc Nation over her new documentary
Steve Loveridge's documentary about MIA was unveiled briefly in a teaser clip uploaded by Loveridge himself this weekend, but has now been removed from the internet.
The documentary has been in production for the last year and features appearances by a host of perfomers and artists, including Kayne West, Spike Jonze, XL's Richard Russell, Switch and Interscope's Jimmy Iovine. The film is a mix of archival footage and interviews, and M.I.A. encouraged fans via Twitter to view the link.
The clip was officially removed by the IFP (Interational Federation for the Phonographic Industry), purportedly for copyright infringement. However, M.I.A. tweeted "i'm gonna need @kickstarter and my fans to help make this exist, i've been black listed through normal channels!!!!!!!"

Roc Nation were in fact behind the removal of the video, and a rep stated: "The timing of this leak screws with everything we've been working on setting up MATANGI [M.I.A.'s fourth album]"
The quotation comes from an email conversation between Loveridge and Roc Nation, which Loveridge published on his blog along with a screenshot of the video removal notice.
Loveridge replied to Roc Nation that he ‘really couldn’t give a flying fuck’ and that he ‘would rather die than work on this’ seemingly resigning from the documentary, adding ‘nothing personal J’ for good measure. Loveridge stated that the trailer was to give Interscope records a feel for the film, and urged followers to 'Reblog the shit out of this and maybe they'll wake up...'.
M.I.A.'s single Bring The Noize is available now, and her new album Matangi will be released later in the year.
