Damon Albarn has confirmed plans for the upcoming and long-awaited new album from Blur.
Speaking to The Wall Street Journal's Speakeasy supplement, Albarn claimed that 'Blur will work on a new album after the solo release'.
The record would be the first full album of new Blur material since 2003's Think Tank, despite one-off releases since their reformation of the singles 'Fool's Day', 'The Puritan' and 'Under The Westway'.
Rumours around a new Blur LP have been rife ever since the frontman revealed the band's intentions to record new material in Tokyo earlier this year.
Albarn is currently in New York to promote his musical 'Monkey: Journey To The West'. Speaking of the show and his various other musical projects to the Wall Street Journal, he also gave insight into his upcoming solo album. Speaking of the record, he said: “You can hear a lot, what’s going on. It’s quite intimate.”

Speaking to Rolling Stone about the LP earlier this year, the Gorillaz frontman claimed that he'd made the record with XL Records boss Richard Russell, who he also worked with on the latest Bobby Womack LP 'The Bravest Man In The Universe'.
"I've just finished a solo record – when I go tour that, I'll play play stuff from all my different bands," said Albarn.
When asked what the solo record sounded like, he responded: "I've been making it with Richard Russell. We worked together on the Bobby Womack record, and really enjoy working together.
