Queens of the Stone Age frontman Josh Homme has praised Arctic Monkeys new album as 'a modern and sexy' record.
After frontman Alex Turner contributed backing vocals to QOTSA's latest LP, Like Clockwork, Homme then went into the studio to lend his voice to a new track on AM.
NME reports that while speaking at the Rock For People festival at Hradec Kralove in the Czech Republic last weekend, Homme gave some insight into what the record entails.
“I sang on the new Arctic Monkeys record," he said. "It’s a really cool, sexy after-midnight record. It’s called 'AM', so I guess that’s really obvious. And it’s really good. It’s really good. It’s not disco (as such), but it’s like a modern, dancefloor sexy record. It’s really good."
Arctic Monkeys will release their new album, AM in September
Speaking about the LP to Zane Lowe on BBC Radio One last month, Alex Turner talked more about Homme's guest appearance.
"The Josh thing was very much a case of one of us returning a back scratch to the other," said Turner, referring to the guest vocals that he leant to Like Clockwork by QOTSA. "He came down and sort of got us out of a little rut. It's just fun, it's friends, extended family now – (they) came round, had a fun night."
He continued: "His contribution to our record is really exciting, it's probably my favourite. The 30 seconds that he's in there is just, I dunno, it's like something that I've never heard before. Not to blow my own trumpet or anything, but you know what I’m saying."
Arctic Monkeys new album AM will be released on 9 September 2013.
Both Arctic Monkeys and QOTSA will be touring the UK this autumn and winter. For more information visit Gigwise gig tickets.
