Arcade Fire have finally confirmed a release date for their follow up to The Suburbs, replying to a fan’s tweet that their new album will be released at the end of October.
Following a recent suggestion that the band plan to release a new single in September, many fans felt that an album announcement couldn’t be far away, and it turns out they were right.
Responding to @fifferwright tweeting “@arcadefire you’re my favorite” the band replied, “Thanks. Our new album will be out October 29th.”
Last month Revolt TV cited sources close to he band suggesting a new track could arriev as early as September 9. The album announcement also confirms drummer Jeremy Gara’s comments last year that the group were looking at an autumn 2013 release date.
The new Arcade Fire record, which is among the most eagerly anticipated of 2013 along with the likes of Justin Timberlake and Daft Punk, is still unnamed, though the band did tweet images along with their announcement which may be album artwork.
DFA boss James Murphy has worked on several tracks with the band, and has promised it be a “really great record.”

Speaking with Rolling Stone about the new album Murphy said: “I think it’s going to be a really great record, actually. I’m eager to see it come out.”
And by way of clarifying his own role in making the record he said: “There’s a lot of them, and they’re mostly self-produced - like, they don’t need a producer in a certain way. So I didn’t know how it would go.”
In the meantime fans have taken to Twitter to enthusiastically share the news, all happy to finally have a release date for the band’s fourth album.
