Corey Monteith, a lead actor in US drama Glee has been found dead in a Canada hotel bedroom, US press reports.
The actor, who enjoyed a string of chart hits with tracks performed on the show, was discovered in the Pacific Rim Hotel in Vancouver on Saturday, 13 July 2013. A cause of death is yet to be announced, but foul play has reportedly been ruled out. He was 31 years old.
Vancouver police state that Monteith had returned to his bedroom alone after a night out partying with friends in the city. Monteith has a history of substance abuse, and was treated for drug addiction in April of this year.
Monteith's publicist confirmed his death in a statement, saying: "We are so saddened to confirm that the reports on the death of Cory Monteith are accurate. We are in shock and mourning this tragic loss."
Details of the singer and actor's death are currently scarce, with Coroner Lisa Lapointe teling press: "We do not have a great deal of information as to cause of death."

Monteith starred as Finn Hudson in Glee, and as well as success on the small screen, enjoyed a successful chart career with covers of classic and modern hits. The cast's biggest hit came with their cover of Journey's 'Don't Stop Believin', and Monteith also sung lead vocals on a mash-up of Bon Jovi's 'It's My Life' and Usher's 'Confessions'. Both were Top 20 hits in the UK.
