Soul star Lester Chambers, a member of civil-rights etc rock/soul band The Chamber Brothers was attacked on stage during a US gig after dedicating a song to Trayvon Martin, the young man controversially shot dead by George Zimmerman.
During a performance at the Hayward-Russell City Blues Festival in Haway California, Chambers performed a cover of Curtis Mayfield's 'People Get Ready', which he dedicated to Martin. Video evidence shows audience member Dinalynn Andrews Potter climbing onto the stage and attacking the 73-year-old star, leaving him with a bruised rib muscle and nerve damage.
Following the seemingly race-related attack, fellow musician Kurt Crowbar Kangas filed the following report to police. He stated: "She was subdued by Police and taken away while the para-medics came and took him to a local Hospital where he went thru a series of cat scans, no broken bones, the only injury for now is a 8″ scratch in the kidney area of his back and it’s starting to swell."
Kangas also claims that Andrews Potter yelled "something like 'it's all your fault'" before the stage attack.

Andrews Potter has since been arrested and booked on suspicion of battery, but was later released. Chamblers' family are looking to press charges against the attacker, hoping to have her charged with a hate crime.
